Born on February 14 1955, chassis number 198 040 5500060 emerged from the factory as a vision of understated sophistication, finished in elegant Silbergrau (DB 180) over a refined Blue Vinyl and Fabric Plaid interior as stated on her Mercedes-Benz data card. Built expressly for the discerning American market, she was delivered just days later to Los Angeles, where her journey began in the hands of her first owner, Mr F.Lutton of Santa Ynez, California.
Over the decades, this remarkable automobile has passed through a lineage of dedicated custodians, each contributing to her enduring legacy. Her transformation into a concours-level example was realized under the expert care of renowned marque specialist Scott Grundfor. Following an extraordinary investment of more than 4.000 hours, the car was restored to a condition approaching factory-new in the early 2000s, preserving her authenticity with meticulous attention to every detail, including the addition of period-correct chrome center-lock rudge wheels in original 5-inch form, otherwise known as unobtainium or commanding a cost of over 150 to 200.000$ today!
Later entrusted to a passionate Belgian collector, the car proved not only a showpiece but a driving work of art, with over 120.000€ spent on her engine in between 2014 and 2015 at a marque specialist. Since then, less than 1.000 km have been covered!
